    93 octane fuel tune

Does anyone have a tune for a 3.8 to run on 93 octane fuel? or could someone set one up for me? My car is a 98 Camaro 3.8 auto.

The only benefit to 93 for you is the ability to run more timing. You could hook a poteniometer to the IAT sensor and command the temperature down to around 32* (I'd have to look at the table). The PCM will command more timing here.

More timing would equal more power wouldn't it?

So if i set IAT to 32 degrees i would gain timing without having to edit tables?

Changing IAT readings affects more then just timing.. Do not alter the signal.
97 Grand Prix GTP (not going to bother listing mods in detail) 1 messed up 97 PCM with about 30-50% of a 2003 calibration and parts of a few others.

Alright. How would I go about tuning my car for 93 octane?

Fill up on 93 octane, scan, if no KR, add some more degrees of timing to the high spark timing table. Ideally you want 26* of WOT timing on a NA 3800. My opinion though, 93 octance is a waste of money, esp with gas prices today, if you want the best bang for your buck with 93 octance add FI.

that's it?? only 26 ?? I know nothing about the 3800 but I would figure 30-34 would be more like it

More timing DOES NOT always equal more power, and useing knock as a limit also doesnt work. You need a dyno to "tune for 93 octane" so you can set timing for the minimum amount of timing required to make the best torque (MBT).

I'm not going to add FI to my car, and I'm not taking it to a dyno. I just wanted to gain a few hp, not make it a drag car, but looks like I'll just leave it alone then.
