Segment swap question

I'm going to install a 5.3L engine into a Chevy Nova '75

The problem is the customer wants a TH350 instead of the 4L60E, so I need a manual OS.
The dealer can flash the VCM to a 4.8L OS with manual trans (A friend did that), but they charge $300 dls to do it.

Is it possible to do a segment swap to my file and convert it to manual?

The VCM is from a 2005 silverado, 5.3L with 4L60E

The VCM Im using is 12592618, I have a file pulled from a swapped car, the VCM was reflashed by the dealer with a 4.8L-manual transmission OS, 12587603 (it was 12592618 originally)

I think the 2 files must be compatible since the car with the 4.8L OS is running fine.

Is it possible to do a segment swap with these 2 files?

I'm a noobie also, so maybe i'm missing something here....

I've done 3 TH350/5.3/6.0 swaps to date. All used 4L60E 5.3L computers. All I did was go in and turn off all the pertinent codes to the trans so they wouldn't trip the MIL.

I just recently did a swap that was using a computer out of a 3/4 truck that had an 80E, and the swap was using a 60E. In this instance I had to do a segment swap.

Just my experiences.

Segment swap is done.
I found a file compatible with mine and sent it to Bill.
I got the swapped file right away and car is working fine now.

Just so others know: You can simply turn off the automatic transmission DTC related items for manual operation. Then simply set up the speedo section appropriately.

I thought of that, but I read on other forums some people had problems with the tune, they solved it doing a segment swap.

I never tried it and assumed it wouldn't work, but it's good to know.
