yep
but cant work out what it is... now iver wasted a hour trying to flash a 2010 VE V8...
going to blow the laptop away tonight and put windows 7 on it as i cant go back to XP on this one...
ive come to the conclusion that is it something that HPT is doing with the USB port.. cause now as soon as HPT tries to talk to the USB port it disconnects..
i just finished tuning a after market ecu using the USB port and after being connected for over 2 hours non stop didnt have a USB problem.. that tells me that the USB port is working perfectly fine...
Hey VYSSLS1,
I think you said you had a compaq pressario(mines a V200) I had problems with vista & hp tuner ftdi drivers & rolled it back to XP & seriously everything works fine now!
Cheers Grant LS1
Mines a Cq60, Have a CQ61 on win 7 and it worked perfectly today as well, so ill put 7 on this tonight and see how we go tomororw. ill do a fresh install so no other shit will be on it..
its seems as soon as HPT tries to access the dongle it causes the problem...
Yeah well that was why I had to go to vista on mine, As I had Scott from VCM Suite come down & try to install the drivers for dongle on the V2000 & couldn't do it, so I went to XP & been fine since!
went XP and it didnt work, went 7 and it didnt work.. as soon as HPT tries to accress the dongle it crashes now...
over it ill just buy a new laptop
For the $550 i paid for my Lenovo Mini S10e i cant fault it. I had a few flash failures when i first got it but after a clean out now issues at all.
Best part is the 2+ hour battery life on performance mode. No screen saver/power downs to interupt flashing

did a bios update and a chipset update and with windows 7 just flashed a few times ok on the bench harness.. ill try it in a car shortly
ok just had a BA XR8 in today, not the same one but his brothers car. did 5 flashes for 5 wins! it seems windows 7 and the bios update has fixed the problem
good stuff mate!

I think the bios and chipset update is more a requirement so that the laptop he was using was able to run Windows 7 and have driver support for the hardware....
it's more than likely that for his particular Laptop Windows 7 can control its resources better than when it had vista (seems vista was a resource hog) and this has helped flash the fords easier.

Justin is right,
this laptop is a compaq cq60 and it runs 50x better on windows 7..
you have to go to the makers website and find the latest bios info there, they usually supply a program that updates it very easily.
worth a try on the other laptops for sure
VY, is the problem child ba turbo due back in anytime soon? That would have too be the acid test wouldnt it?

its a BA XR8... ill get him to pop in tomorrow if he can
i gave up another another day of shit and went and brought a new laptop... ill get the troubled BA back next week
When running in power saver mode , "apparently" in an effort to save battery , Windows Vista PC's will lower the voltage to the USB port.
Had a nightmare car last week that was taking on average 4 attempts per flash.
This week's car , I connected the power supply to the laptop , changed power plan to "high performance" and so far only managed 1 failed flash from 12 ( far better ratio ! )
Hope this helps
