im going turbo do i need a 2 bar MAP

hey guys i might be getting an STS Turbo setup for my 2002 WS6, my question is as stated, would i need a 2 bar MAP sensor for the boost. would i then tune, my primary VE via boost VE afr error? can you tune a turbo setup on the street? im gonna be puttin down 8 psi max.

You need a 2Bar MAP so you can accurately tune for boost. The factory 1 Bar MAP will only register to 14.7 PSI, or atmospheric pressure. The second you enter boost (anything over 14.7 psi), you will be blindly guessing at your actual boost. Not good for tuning...

technically the 1 bar map sensor is only good for 1 bar...NA only...
a 2 bar map will read to 14.7lbs of boost
the moment you go above 14.7psi relative to atmosphere(100kpa at WOT) you will need that 2 bar map...

can you wing it without a 2 bar map and 2 bar OS...YES... but its is not recommended.

as soon as you start to make boost you need to have a 2 bar...

if you are going above 14.7psi boost then you may need a 2.5 bar or a 3 bar map sensor and matching custom OS if available for your vehicle

also what if i lowered my maf only air calculation so that the maf is in charge of the boost, the maf doesnt give a shit about pressure. i mean im only going 8 psi.
