Thread: Fuel Segment Swap??

  1. #21
    My PC crashed.
I hope this week I will have it back up. I will send you some info then

Is this the fuel signal over PWM parameter? I've always wondered if that was the only function that needed to be switched. When I had a 02 pcm in my car I never had a chance to test it.

  3. #23
    it is more than that.
different IPC/Gauges run on different Hz also.
the calibration has a switch parameter also.

Bill can you resend the last email I got from you? It had an HPT file in it? I need the HPT file

Not possible, two completely different pcm's so the segments are not even closely compatible.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

oh ok thanks. How can I look at the fuel gauge settings to try and find one that is compatible, will all E40 PCM's be compatible? Like the 06 GTO, 05 corrvete , SSR, trailblazer etc..

We were unable to find them in the older colorado pcm's so you cannot.

What I meant was if are the E40 PCM compatable swaps between eachother? For example I use the fuel seg from a 05 corvette wiht a E40 and swap that into the 06 SSR file also a E40? I am hopin to find one of the E40 OS that have the fuel gauge the same as the colorado!

I am pretty sure the GTO 2006 fuel guage works in the same direction as the colorado

2006 GTO manual stock tune file for fuel segmnet 1166237590.hpt

My 06 SSR tune file 1291017098.hpt

now how do I do the segment swap?

looks like the GTO is 40 ohms full and 250 ohms empty no good, as the colorado is suposed to be 250 ohms full 40 ohms empty

the 05 corrvett has the proper 250 ohms full and 40 ohms empty, but two sedning units, I could split the signal, and trick into having two sending units, and move the pins two to corect postion on the pcm.

can you do a segment swap with the 2142429314.hpt 05 corvvete to my ssr tune file?

looks like the best candidate is the 2006 monte carlo 5.3 V8 same srvice number as the 06 ssr computer, single fuel leval senor same pins, but the full is 250 ohms and empty 40 ohms, this should work!!

2006 monte carlo 5.3 stock tune file 119204321.htp

Thanks bill, and sorry for posting so much and changing my mind, but his is definately the best candidate. Lte me know if you want me to delete my erlier posts, or you can delete them for me, to clean the thread up! Thanks again for all your help so far, I would be esatic if this works!! -Jamie

a 2005 operating system would not be compatible with a 2006 one, again the vcm os id's must match.

Contact Bill @ HPT to see if he got it from me.
Could you please give some instructions how to do that? I don't mind doing it in hex-editor if it works... Tired of not knowing how much fuel left

I'm back to resurrect another ancient thread because it seems to be most relevant to my current project.

Trying to get dual tanks working on a project, my ECU was originally from an 03 Savana 3500, single tank, LQ4, 4L80e.
    All calibration details:
    VIN 1GTHG35U531124209
    ECU serial 2CC1AU2W2279
    OS 12593058, CVN C0ED
    Engine 12592598, CVN 1BAE
    Engine Diagnostic 12592608, CVN C429
    Transmission 12592615, CVN 6952
    Transmission Diagnostic 12571954, CVN C48E
    Fuel System 12578967, CVN 2180
    System 12571966, CVN 35D4
    Speedometer 12571988, CVN 7D48

I've done a bunch of changes to this elsewhere in the calibration but now trying to get dual tanks working. Main tank is a 15 gallon fuel cell with an 03 Sierra sending unit custom installed in it, primary tank sender tables seemed to be roughly correct on my first shot. Secondary tank is a 17 gallon aux fuel tank with another sending unit custom installed in it, secondary tank calibration is questionable but reads roughly correct at both ends. I have not yet hooked up the secondary pump to auto transfer fuel from secondary to primary when needed, but I'm getting worried it may not even try to, as I'm getting wacky readings via OBD2/class 2 serial for fuel level. It quite clearly realizes that I added the second tank's volume to [ECM] 7000 through 7003 because even with the primary tank completely full it never shows over about 47% capacity when reading SAE J2178-4 primary ID $82/$83 secondary ID $12 off the bus, despite having the secondary tank sender connected and verified working by reading mode $22 PID $1338 (non-linearized secondary fuel sending unit ADC value) and seeing it move to an expected value based on amount of fuel on board.

Am I going to need to do a fuel system segment swap to get this working right or is my calibration wrong? I compared to a 2003 Suburban 8.1 stock tune out of the repository w/ dual tanks and I think I have everything set up right, but I could be wrong here. If I do need to do a fuel system segment swap, what donor tune in the repository should I pull the segment from? I haven't seen one with dual tanks and OS 12593058 and don't want to brick my VCM by trying sketchy stuff, or I'd just start messing with it.

It looks like the VCM fuel segment calibration method changed from 02 down to 03 up as the number of tables and other options in the fuel system section changed (having looked at like a dozen tunes fuel system settings in the 99-06 range, this stuck out to me) so I am guessing I'll need an 03 up tune with this OS and dual tanks to pull the segment from.

I can post my tune if needed but haven't figured out how yet.
