Thread: Fuel Segment Swap??

    Fuel Segment Swap??

I have a 98 C5 that I have upgraded the ECM to an 01. It is my understanding that to get my fuel guage to work properly I need to do a segment swap. Can anyone help?
    Thanks

We should be able to swap the segments, just send us the files you want the segment swapped from & to similar to doing a transmission segment swap.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

One is a 98-non segmented file
the other is a 99-segmented file

not even CLOSE to being compatible segments. As one has one the other does not.

Thanks this info helps, it means I have another problem but I will take any progress I can get. The BCM is compatible with either the 99 or 01 OS. I think I may have a dead or intermittent sender or 2. There have been others do the ECM swap I did but they made some changes using EFI live. My guess was it was a segment swap but apparently it wasn't.
Time to pull the senders and have a look at them. Hopefully I dont have to replace them they are $700

They are probably doing a segment swap from some file, what file I have no idea though.

Would these files be a canidate for a fuel segment swap?
This was originally a V6 truck and now it has a 6.0 from a Van

Try using .bins from an '02 Vette and an '02 Express van.
    OS 12212156

Are you saying download those from the repository? I sure dont want to license another file, I have already done both of those.

OS 12212156 and the fuel segment from an '02 Express Van
is what Fbody people use when upgrading to the 99+ PCM.
I imagine it would work the same for Ybodies.

This is a popular mod, there should be a sticky somewhere.

My post asking about the truck is a separate issue. This is a 03 truck that came with a V6. Now it has a 6.0 from a express van. The fuel guage kinda works, it is just backwards empty is full and full is empty. I was trying to figure out if you take the fuel segment from the V6 file and and put it in the 6.0 file if it would fix the problem. I am hoping Bill can tell me if they are compatible segments.

Does HPTuners show anything on the fuel level sensor when you add it to the table of logged parameters? I know it doesn't output to the gauge, but does it have to see input form the sensor? Mine only shows 5V and that's all (98' car with 00' PCM)

Today I finished adding the parameters to the "Fuel System Segment" section that you need to setup a 0411 when using it in a hybrid configuration. I don't need to swap in a van segment anymore. The Fuel Segment calibration was used for multiple years and I don't understand why HPT hasn't added the parameters.

Could you please explain in more details? How did you add them, and what is 0411?

    I did it in a hex-editor.
I got it all figured out and then sent the info in to TunerCat to have John add it.
Contact Bill @ HPT to see if he got it from me.

Just checked through my emails, nothing from what I can tell, please resend. I don't think it would be an issue to add in the necessary tables. I'm sure our engineers wouldn't mind adding them rather than having to do a segment swap every time
