New truck! 2 pcm and tcm

I bought my truck a couple monthas ago.
I dont want to mess with the PCM and TCM that are on the truck so I bought another PCM and TCM.

Do i just put the PCM and TCM in the place of the ones that came with the truck and start tuning?

Do I have to change the VIN?

    and yes I have searched

Where are your new pcm and tcm from? New or used? You should just be able to read and save the ones in the truck, do the swap, flash the read files into the replacement pcm/tcm. Because you are using the original files, vin data will be correct. You will need to license the new pcm to do the flash. If you have not licensed the original, dont, it will not be required. The only thing i am uncertain of is if they are new blank pcms, never tried a flash into one. If they are used, no prob.

Then you will have to license the new set and change the VIN to match the car they are going in. Hopefully the tune on them is not locked or you will be screwed.

The spare PCM is not locked.

Ill give it a go when I get home from work!

    OK
I read stock tune off of PCM that was in the truck.
Installed used PCM and read and licensed it.
I copied over all parameters from the PCM that was on the truck over to the used PCM.
    So far so good!
Tried to change VIN and its telling me "Invalid VIN/OS pair" so i cant change the vin.

The spare PCM is out of an 07 and my truck is an 09
So i tried to start the truck with the used PCM/TCM and nothing.
Put the original PCM/TCM back and its fine, fired right up.

I dont want to tune on the original PCM/TCM
What do I need to do to make this work?????

Make sure the used pcms are compatible with new one, and follow my orginal instructions. Write the file you read out of original into the used.

I have no idea how to check if the PCM's are compatible.

I did flash used pcm with file from original but it did not change the vin.

take the part numbers off the pcms and use the gm parts website. If the numbers are not the same, you should be able to follow them through to see if they change up to the same. For the vin and operating system to change, you must load the file from your stock computer and then do a write entire(not just write calibration). Then the used computer should be the same as the original.

MY09 operating systems which your 12630501 OS most likely is, aren't too kind to '08 or earlier ECM's. Your '08 E38 ECM probably wont ever work again if you have flashed the '09 OS from your truck in.

If you want a spare '09 based ECM, you will need an '09 ECM. Svc # 12625455 with your 12630501 OS flashed in by GM before you HPT it.

First off leg me thank y'all for the help!
I will take a look at the pcm's when I get to the house.
I just hope that I didn't jump the gun and wasted 2 credits on a pcm that is no good to me.

Would VATS have anything to do with the truck not wanting to start?
