Knock Sensor Choice for LT1 Conversion

I am wiring my engine up at the moment and was thinking a set of those new style knock sensors would be much easier to package than the big ones that originally came on the LTx engines. As I read, though, it looks as if there is no way to use them with the Gen3 PCM. Now I wonder if I should just skip them altogether.

If I were to try some, do I just use the LTx ones and hope for the best? It's a 2002 Z06 calibration, but I can't imagine the aluminum Gen3 and an iron Gen2 with a solid roller cam would have anywhere near the same sound signature. Maybe some iron block application (truck) would be a better choice? Not worth the hassle?

I used the knock sensors for a 97 LT1 TA for my conversion. It seems to work pretty well, and I do sometimes see knock, so I know they work. I did use 2 sensors though, one on each bank.
