    e38 differences?

Does anyone know the differences in the e38 pcms? i need a spare e38 for a 2010 camaro ss. i've been told it is different from earlier models. the new number is not available from gm yet. Any older one's work? any help would be appreciated.

Older ones won't work from what I've been told.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

It is my understanding and thinking that say an '06-'07 LS2 C6 and '06-09 Z06 could use the '09 LS3 pcm, provided they swap out the pedal assembly and TB.

Why do this? Because for supercharged or turbocharged setups, the '09 LS3 E38 has at 15k Hz MAF table (versus 12.2k Hz limit), along with a 529.1 #/min MAF table airflow range (versus 67.7 #/min), AND it has a 127 #/hr IFR table range (versus 63.5 #/hr).

I'm hoping to test this ability one day in the future.

I am certainly looking forward to seeing the results. This could be very beneficial to the FI folks.

    Cheers,

'09, at least on Corvette seems to be a considerably different piece of hardware even though it looks the same. '08 and earlier tunes in '09 ECM's, and vice versa, have been reported to kill the hardware due to memory allocation revisions. Or at least this was the case early in MY09.

The '09 Vette LS3, 2010 Camaro and '09 G8's all run the same E38 hardware.

'08 Vettes have a MAF calibration that goes to almost 1900 grams/sec at 15kHz (limit 4000 grams/sec which is almost 10lbs per sec of air), though the IFR is still at 8 grams/sec, which as RWTD points out is vastly improved in the '09 at 16 grams/sec. 2010 Camaro tunes have same limits as '09 Vette.

    Hope this helps!

Knock it off already, your giving my E40 an inferiority complex...At least there is a 2 bar OS for the E40, with fan table extension.

So you are saying an 09 vette ls3 ecm or an 09 g8 gt ecm will work even though they are different part numbers from the camaro? The part number for the camaro isn't even available from gm yet according to the dealer. part# is 12633238. Thanks for your help.

ACDelco shows the PN for Camaro/09 Vette and G8 as 12625455, and 08 as 12612384, 07 as 12597121. These are the service numbers which are printed on the ECM labels.

Maybe GM has now brought a 2010 ECM under 12633238 out to confuse us yet again. Though it must be a very fresh running change. Does your HPT read your ECM OK and show the OS as 12633056?

Only way to really tell which ECM you have is look at the base of the ECM installed in your Camaro. Though if they are basing the ECM PN on your VIN, no doubt it is accurate. GM has changed a few things recently like different oil pressure sensor, different orientation on ECM connectors. Proliferation gone wild .

Exactly. Evidence of attendance. Or maybe that new Mid-Speed Infotainment bus is causing issues.

Bringing this back from the dead.

I am building an L92/4L80e combo from scratch. I have an '08 Silverado harness (V8/4spd). What would be the best ECM for my needs? Also which TCM? I am concerned to just get any of them and then have a limitation I could have avoided by getting the best one for my needs. I will be running boost if that helps.

    Thanks
