Converting my 1998 trans am auto to automatic.

Hi, I am converting my car from m6 to auto. Can I just put the values in the shift charts or does the operating system have to be reflashed to auto. I know the 98 pcm is different and read somewhere it has less fail safes and can possibly be reprogrammed wrong if you don't use the correct o/s and calibration. Any information or suggestions on this would be greatly appriciated.
    Thanks,Chris.

You will need the VIN from an auto car and use a Tech2 to flash it. Do not swap files on 97-98 cars. Then once in place you will have to do a VATS relearn with the new VIN.

Can I use something from here in the repository and reflash it? If not I guess I could post something on the ls1 forum see if someone would give me their vin.
Thanks,C Oh and would I have to pay to register the new vin?

DO NOT SWAP FILES ON 97-98 PCM's! It can only be done with a Tech2 or you will most likely end up with a brick for a PCM.
