    E85 Aussie Barra turbo

    Hey guys

    I am looking to change over to E85 for a little more kick from the territory.
    It's got a forged engine in it and is running a GTX3582R.
    By the end of the long week end it should have the FG intake manifold on it.
    The fuel system has been upgraded to suit the E85 fuel demands.
    Has any one done much with tuning on E85?
    Any tips?

    Any of the OZ guys have a 16lb E85 tune file they are willing to share so Bugsy and I can mull over it and learn about E85.
    Any info would be great.

    E85 was fuel of choice over 5 years ago so lots has been done with it

    Instead of giving you the answer ( file ) ill give u the tool ....

    Think about what e85 has as characteristics over 98

    Apply them to your 98 tune and ur on a winner

    Before anyone gets pissy, if u dont know what the fuel is going to do how will u know what you have changed to suit, its very basic so learn the basics !!

    I am assuming that you know how to tune with Petrol. E85 is pretty much the same at moderate power levels. Start off tuning low boost first (maybe around 12psi)First thing is you change the stoich fuel ratio in the tune to 9.8 and you are most of the way there and just tune using petrol ratios on your air/fuel ratio meter using factory timing maps for starters.
    It seems to be a very forgiving fuel and the tuning window is quite big so it will run at air/fuel ratios where petrol would cause issues .

    You will have issues on cold start up so you have to do stuff to the cranking lambda table for easier starts.

    If you have never done live tuning I would think it a very slow learning process on this flash tuning.

    I think I have got my head around the fuel side of tuning for E85.
    Its the timing or how much you can more you can run compared to 98.
    I have done live tuning with flash tuners on bikes(woolich racing)
    But a gsxr1000 doesn't run e85.

    If u really understand your first statement ull have an idea of ur own question regarding timing

    Do u really understand e85 fuel ?

    Thanks guys, every little bit of info helps . Bugsy I have read somewhere that you can dial in approx an extra 8 degrees of timing in the tune when running E85 on our engines but I have not played with E85 yet to tell you any different.

    Don't worry about timing at this stage. Just get it running on stock timing and the boost you want and dial in the timing last. There is a E85 thread on the fordxr6turbo forum that has some good info. You can slowly dial in the timing once you get to that point. I still drive with the stock timing maps on E85 as there is no traction with very soft compound tyres as it is.
