ways to make a stock 4l60 live
Is there anything that can be done to the tune to help the demise of a 4l60e? I have a 2002 camaro ss that I turboed. The car is converted 3 bar speed density and as of now has a bone stock transmission tune in it. The car made 540 rwhp through the auto with the converter locked, and I was wondering if there is anything to be done to help the transmission not blow up on the first pass.

I would be concerned that the motor torque model
(vs airflow, spark, RPM, AFR) is well off from GM's
stock one, and this (Delivered Torque - Trans) is
pushed right through to the line pressure through
a series of calculations & tables.
I'd be logging the DTT and the force motor current,
make sure that line pressure is all-in (current to
zero) by the time you get past maybe 200lb-ft
under all conditions. You could play with that to
shave away pump losses and gain MPG like GM
did originally, but I don't think that's why people
put turbos.
It may be interesting for you to either export data
to Excel, or make a custom PID for internal slip
going by (input shaft / output shaft) ratio, vs the
nominal gear ratio. You're looking for flare or an
extended time required to haul down to the true
ratio, either one of which would indicate that the
frictions are not getting enough actuation pressure
or (if at zero force motor current) are just not up
to the job and want you to get busy with the
replacement unit.
The torque model is not very accessible, Trans
General Pressure may have some line modifiers
for holding pressure (beyond the usual during-
shift pressures) and if you don't get satisfaction
the force motor table is there as a more crude
handle on things. I would suspect the most
trouble at part throttle where the PCM is trying
to be "smart" and using "just enough" pressure,
WOT is probably all-in (but trust noone). You
could eyeball the profile I use on mine, just to
get a sense of other ways to roll off the current
and roll on the pressure than GM did; maybe take
it further if you encounter slip. Look for the trans
spreadsheet I post occasionally or my later
repository tune.

Not Locking The Converter Would Be A Good Start...
Lots Of Line Pressure, Quick Shift Times, Mabye Tq Managment For Shifts?
Im Sure Jummyblue Could Hook You Up With A Nice Tune...
He Had My Stock Tranny Working Better Than I Ever Thought Was Possible

why not just build the transmission?

best thing to do is upgrade that trans even built is a peice of crap above 550rwh ive broke many of them.my cars at above 700rwh.I have the 4l65e
