Cant get new cable to connect...had previously installed HPT

Hello,

I recently purchased HPT vcm suite for my 2007 TBSS (have a DHP powr tuner for my Grand Prixs-yes more than 1...).

I had purchased one used about 6mos ago and sold it due to needing the funds, I had installed on my laptop. Now I purchased a NEW suite, and can NOT load it..it will not detect the cable, and the previous serial is still in the Info screen.

I tried uninstal, reinstal twice
registry cleaner..
and finally loaded it on my G/Fs laptop...worked with NO issues at all. But I want/need to be able to use it from my laptop.

Ideas? Thanks!

Was your old interface a serial style or usb style?

Is your "new" interface a serial style or usb style?

Both are/were USB.

You can change the serial number by connecting the interface to your laptop & going to help-license info-update application key and by inserting your NEW application key.

Not sure about the non connecting issue, you might want to check to make sure both of your drivers are installed properly.

I tried that...I couldnt get it to save. I will try to reconnect and get the exact error code.

BTW the scanner wont connect either...but the G/Fs tiny laptop works fine...weird.

Yeah, the app key needs to be correct for your serial number.

If your serial number starts with 106xxxx or newer you MUST update your software to 2.22 or newer for the interface app key to work properly. So if you are trying to use an old version of software(from when you had your old interface) that in itself might be the problem

Well, I go it... . I watched to see where the info file saved, and deleted that entire folder from "My Docs"...assuming like most other programs similar to this that the folder would repopulate after restarting the program or a reboot. And it DID .
