Bought new pcm from Dealer...can I get my car up and running with HPT?

My buddy has a 98 camaro 5.7. I found some stock bin on repository section that matches his vehicle perfectly. How can I reprogram this new PCM to get the car running. The old one took a dump thanks to some water. The new pcm is not even showing a vin, so I assume I'll have to do a "comlete write" to vin? Any help would be greatly appretiated. What steps must I take to get this pcm written. Do I do a complete or "fast"

Your best bet is to stop by your local NAPA store and see if they can program it with your VIN. Someone else on here was saying NAPA can do it....

You need to instal the factory software using the TECH2, then you can use the HP tuner to work on it or at lease to run the car.

I have tried this before using write entire, write vin/ tuner lock/ vats and write calibration only non of them will do you any good as the vcm is blank (empty) with no VIN.

There is no way to tune it or to get the car to run with the HP tuner only.
