    HPT Book?

I Just started reading the stickies...however I'm leaving the country for 4 months in a few days, and won't have access to the internet/HPT forum's and really want to learn the most I can about Tuning in my time spent abroad.
Random thought but has HPT taken all their helpful sticky's and made a publication out of them? Or is there a book out right now that's very useful with people getting started with HPT?
Thanks for the newb + dumb question.

No, I haven't...are they HPT specific or just tuning specific? I'll look them up anyways, need some good reading...although as you found out I'm not leaving any more!

What all does the book entail. Does it have any info on 2 and 3 bar SD tuning?

You can see quite a bit of it on the publisher's website: http://www.cartechbooks.com The book focuses much more on the fundamentals and "why's" of tuning rather than just spoon-feeding an answer to a single tuning situation. You will find that the concepts presented apply to pretty much every engine you will see.

Fundamentally, tuning a 2 or 3 bar SD system is no different than tuning a 1 bar system. You just have the ability to go to higher pressures that must also be mapped correctly, preferably in steady state.

Does any of the material in either offering cover the Gas Direct Injection Turbo applications like the new GM/Bosch LNF motor?

Don't let direct injection scare you. It's still fundamentally a gasoline engine that plays by the same laws of physics. I spent a couple years as the lead calibrator for a DI turbo application in my last job. You can still get knock, and you must still accurately measure incoming airflow. Just treat it like any other boosted engine and you'll be fine. There just a couple extra knobs you can turn for fuel pressure and timing, that's all. If you understand the underlying principles, tuning a DI engine isn't really that tough.

Good info, thanks guys. I bought the Greg Banish book last week and will dig into it when I get deployed and have lots of free time!

Bob, I checked out your site and it seems like a great way to learn to tune. I would definitely sign up but not sure I'm gonna be around long enough to take a course. I'm interested in the CD-rom that you have but it's a little out of my price range. Thanks for the help.

Id like to take one of your courses, but your both very expensive,
Even the home addition is steep

Do a search on the forums and you will find many happy customers. Our courses are actually designed to walk you through the step by step process of tuning actually using HP Tuners, and you can pick the type of combo you are working with as well.

The price is set like it is because you are getting support for 1 year as well, not just "a book". You can email, call, or post in our private forum.

    Thanks,
    Bob
