Did a log on my truck before I blew the converter up the other day and I noticed at an idle the Intake Valve Temp was sitting at 490*F.
WTF? That isn't right is it?

Assuming the Intake valve temp is a calculated value?
I don't rape PE tables cause I don't know what I am doing anyway....
Right. It's all calculated by what I think is how much fuel theoretically evaporates inside the intake port. I'm really not sure what the formula is to derive IVT but what I do know is that most of the IVT tables stop at 421*F. Something has definitely got to be up lol.

I used to have IVT's I thought around 240's before my whipple.. now they are 300-310's... I thought normal were 240's. I did change the injector settings from the whipple tune to what is believed to be more accurate numbers but I didnt notice when the IVT's jumped up (after whipple, or after changing injector settings).
It would make sense the whipple install alone would increase the IVT temps since there is about 30+ degrees higher intake air temp than ambient temp (the stock whipple cal reads 15 degrees low... check yours out see if yours is low too).
EDIT: I take all that back... I just checked a log when I first bought my car (Stock), Im showing 330ish IVT going 80mph down the highway in 55f temps. I would still suspect your fuel injector settings since the fuel cools the valve... and if the pcm thinks there's less fuel hitting the valve.. then it will remove less heat from it.

Strange though. It has completely skewed transient and evap fuel coefficients.

Why are you worried about them, they are just a calculated value. With 1500 degree chamber temps, the valves are goona be hot too! I dont think 390 is terrible, I have seen worse. Besides, valves transfer allot of heat to the head (via seat) that they soak up from the chamber.
Is something fishy going on with the way its running, and your looking for why? Or you just curious why 390?
