    Wideband without controller

    Hello.

From my understanding wideband sensors have a few diffrent wires coming off them.

they have a singnal output which tells the controller your AFR.

does this signal have to be translated to be understood by hptuners EIO or can the sensor be connected directly to the EIO.

i know the sensor has heater voltage that goes to it, but if the car / exhaust is at operating temp will this heater be needed?

    let me know your thoughts.

    maybe im crazy.

The WB temp needs to be kept in very tight control which can only be done with the wide band controller which also translates the output into the typical 0-5V signal HPT is expecting. A WB is no good without a controller.

    thanks for the response.
ended up ordering a AEM, should be here mid part of next week.

so is it best to install the wideband on one side, do some logging, then switch sides to make sure i get things even?

or do you guys recommend 1 side over the other.

the car currently has 4 narrow bands, but only the fronts are active. the rears are deleted and i can pull either one.
there are no Cats on the car.

whichever side is prone to running leaner will be the side i run the wide band in.

2 channel is the best idea.

but 1 is better than nothing.

It's pretty rare to run dual widebands or to swap it side to side. It's best to put it in the leaner side. For the LSx's #7 typically runs the leanest so thats the drivers side.

    thanks
IF you run a Y pipe or an X pipe..weld a bung (or get one welded in) right in the meeting point...get data from both sides at the same time and get the average
    has worked well for me
