tried to hook it up to do a read and a scan and got the error code could not find VCM. What is going on? the car runs but is like it cant talk to the obd2 port. I tried restart 3 times and still same thing.

Check for power by plugging in the inteface without the USB plugged in. If the green light is off, your cigarette lighter fuse is blown most likely. Either way there's no power to the obdII port at pin 16.
