    05 c6 e40....best map sensor for 2.5 sd

    I have read that the GM pn 12580698 is a 2.5 bar sensor. I was told by another person that it is a 5 pin sensor with an integrated IAT. I called my local GM place and they told me its was 3 pin. To sum it up.....I am looking for the best 2.5 bar sensor to use with the 2.5 bar custom os for the e40. I dont want to buy the wrong sensor and pigtial. TIA

    There is no 2.5 Bar sensor that is MAP only. The 0698 version is 2 bar (15 PSI boost) So unless you are going above ~15 PSI you are good. If you are headed for 2.5 bar (Max ~21 PSI Boost) you will have to get one of the old "brick" style 3 bar MAP sensors and run a vacuum line.

    Thats what I wanted to do but there is a 256kpa limit in the computer. I am looking to run over 15 psi.

    People are mentioning this number as 2.5 bar map sensor. I wouldn't mind if it was 2.5 map and Iat. If the Iat was correct I could just use it....or leave it unwired if not. Right?

    Everyone says you can use a 3 bar map with the 2.5 os, but how? I understand that os still stops at 255kpa reguardless, but you can't even configure it for a 3 bar sensor. The map linear has has a max value of 256. Unless you can plug in a value around 300, I don't see how you can make it read correct.

    What's the purpose of the Linear B?

    You need to be careful with the Cobalt becuase they have 3 MAP sensors if i remember correctly.

    1. combo MAP + IAT goes in the manifold, 2.5 bar
    2. inlet air pressure (in the intake path) 1 bar i think
    3. baro sensor (2 bar i think)

    You should be able to wire up the 2.5bar MAP + IAT sensor and just not use the IAT part.

    The numbers for this sensor are linear 270.59 (the max you can enter is 256) and offset -3.30, which i think the min you can enter is 0. It will be close but not exact.

    In the later E38 ECM the limits are different and you can use a 3bar sensor no problems. I was getting confused between the two in a previous post as i was working on the E38 code at the time. Sorry.

    Stumbled across this post so I figured I would add some info.

    A 3bar map sensor will not work properly. Since you can't enter a value higher than 256 it will always read incorrectly. (I had a 3 bar installed and read map values while applying regulated pressure to the sensor and a boost gauge). I'm sure you could install and use this sensor but your KPA reading will never actually be right.

    2 bar obviously only reads 2 bar, so a real 2.5bar sensor is needed.

    I found this sensor online-

    20-250kpa and inexpensive.

    Installed it in an 05 C6 with APS twins, re-tested with regulated air/gauge and it reads up to 256kpa while matching boost gauge values perfectly.

    yep that sensor is a true 2.5bar, it is used in a lot of after market ECU's here in aus and works a treat

    Im using this sensor in my car right now and it seems to work pretty good. Im using a linear of 256kpa(is this correct?) and my factory 1bar setup read 103kpa key on engine off..so I set the offset to 9 to get to the same 103kpa..

    The Sensor's range is 20-250kp

    0.2V = 20 kPa - 2.9 PSI
    4.9V = 250 kPa -36.25 PSI
    Accuracy +- 1.5% of the full scale value (+- 0.5 PSI)

    This sensor is linear which makes tuning easier.
