Thread: Disable VATS/Passlock on LSJ P12 pcm

    Disable VATS/Passlock on LSJ P12 pcm ??

    Hi,

Sorry to jump right in as a newby, but as I want to swap a complete LSJ engine into a European Opel Speedster (currently running a Z22SE with E15 pcm) I need to find out a way to disable the VATS/Passlock system in the LSJ's P12 pcm.
I do like to use the standard P12 with HPtuners, as my car also uses a fly-by-wire throttle and that is very difficult to change. And not many (payable) stand alone pcm's support this feature...

Is this possible with HPtuners? I read that this pcm sometimes will ignore the passlock fuel cut-off signal when certain flags are raised. (by a malfunctioning BCM or VATS/Passlock system) So if you can raise these flags with HP...
That would make my life so much easier, otherwise I have to fuse a matching US-BCM + key & lock somewhere into my car.
(I also can use a self-learning remote starter for this purpose, but still need to "program" that with the correct code...)

    Thxs

In the VCM suite Online Help I found for parameters GM:

    GM > SYSTEM > GENERAL>

Automatic Transmission Gear Position Indicator (PRNDL)

Equipped: Indicates the type of PRNDL switch fitted. None, PRNDL or PN Only.

    Vehicle Anti-Theft System (VATS) Control
Serial: Vehicle is equipped with Serial (Class2) style VATS.
PWM: Vehicle is equipped with PWM style VATS.
None: VATS system is non-existent or disabled.

VATS: Master enable disable of the VATS system.
VATS Fuel Cut: If enabled, VATS fail will cut fuel.

I'm still not sure if this feature is possible for every HPtuners supported GM PCM, so can somebody please confirm that VATS can be disabled on the LSJ P12 PCM?

    Thxs,

The VATS enable/disable parameter is available for these pcm's

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

    Thxs Bill,

I misread your reply and thought that the VATS-disable was only possible for that particular 2007 Cobalt type... :~/
But you meant that disabling VATS is POSSIBLE for the LSJ P12 pcm and included an example VATS-Disable folder for me.
    :-)

Thxs again, you saved me a lot of trouble for my swap project!!

you asked for LSJ with p12, thats an 07 2.0 SS/SC with the p12 pcm, all 05-07 p12's are the same in that sense.

the 2.4 engine uses an E67 controller which is a bit differnt but also has the vats parameters available for you.

Not to get off on too much of a tangent, but I would suggest you venture into the Ariel Atom forums to see how they are limited to 280ish HP max from the LSJ. If possible maybe the LE5 would be a better starting point for a swap or even the LNF once HPT gets that ECU squared away.

Can VATS/Passlock be disabled on E69 pcms?

Is the same method of disabling VAT/Passlock available on E69 pcms? I'm trying to use a 2.0L Solstice GXP E69 pcm in a dyno environment along with HPTuner.

Version:2.22.3152.18236/ OS:12619549/12610055 = NO VATS disable for LNF

And to update my last post a LOT of stuff is working on the LNF now and I just purchased a Passlock 3+ disable from Crutchfield to get one installed on a dyno a while back.

Could you supply me with the model of the Passlock 3+ disabler you bought and did you need to use a key cylinder and/or bcm as well in the dyno? Thx

    Newbie post here

I am also looking at this option, will it mater that I get the PCM from somewhere in the States / ebay but it will come on it's own with no VIN information. will the software still work OK?
