if you upgrade to the 2.5bar OS can you still keep the maf, and take advantage of full cooling fan control?

Is there a simple option to turn the MAF off with the custom OS? I've never played with any of the custom ones.

unplug it and get an IAT sensor kit if the IAT is part of the MAF. Or leave it plugged in and set the MAF fail freq to 0.

With the custom OS, will this make the low octane timing map the default one? I plan to retain my MAF, but I'm more just curious for when I'm dialing in the SD table.

newer code doesn't default to the low octane table, only LS1 does this.

I'm doing the happy dance, because I just got an email stating that it's available for 2006 Z06s.

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

    Is it a 2bar or 2.5bar for the 06?

2.5 bar, but you can use anything from 1-2.5 bar in reality since the axes are adjustable.

anyone put together a starter VE table yet? do you need to change the axes if you are using a stock map sensor,, or do you need to change to a min 1 bar sensor to use the ve table?

the 2bar automatically changes the map sensor calibration to somthing suitable for common 2bar sensors. If you are using a 1bar sensor (the stoick one) you need to change the MAP Linear and MAP Offset back to the stock values.

You can use the EQ_VE program to generate a copy of the VE table, but you need to edit the table dimensions file and add a new table with the same dimensions as your custom VE table. The problem I ran into when doing this was when the prorgam generated a table, all of the columns were out of order. I just had to copy/paste columns individually and put them in the right spot in my tun efile, and it all worked out.

Now I just need to figure out why the custom OS is putting my car into closed loop almost right away, even with cold coolant.

From my understanding many are using the stock VE table from say a 2005-2006 GTO or 05 vette...its a little bit of work involved in interpolating between bounds but that shouldn't take more than 5 or so minutes then just save it as a txt file in our software and you'll always have a starter ve on hand

chris what are ur thoughts on leaving the maf active but fail at freq. were boost kicks in? might make for a nicer overal tune. would there be issues (stumble ect..) in transitions?

I know if you set it like this on gen 3 pcm's when it fails it fails & doesn't "unfail" until you turn off the vehicle...I assume E38's are the same.
