How to Tune Idle Startup Airflow?

My cold startups are great. The engine comes to life quickly and with a neat sound. On a warm or hot start though, the engine starts but then almost dies, then slowly comes back. I'd like it to start like it does cold all the time. Anyone know the best way to go about this? My thought was to log airflow from a cold start and use the values for the first 8 seconds and plug them into the rest of the ECT rows. Unfortunately the idle startup airflow table is not a defined histogram table. I may have to whip one up.

Here's the histogram. Haven't used it yet. Gotta wait for the motor to cool down first. You need to log engine run time (pid.2131) for it to work (and airflow).

Just tried using the histogram and it works although only in the full second marks, but plugging the data into the startup airflow table doesn't seem to make much difference. There is an initial startup flare, then a long pause at the ~1-1.5 second mark, then it evens out.

Doug, how did you arrive at those #'s? Is it just something you've found to work? I took a log of what the startup airflow looked like first thing in the morning (when it starts like it should) and the numbers were higher, see attached.

BTW, yesterday evening when it was hot I tried to start it and it cranked for ~5 seconds before barely firing up.

I can't upload a file over ~120 KB from behind the firewall at work for some reason so I can't post my tune right now...

Use www.7-zip.org to split it into multiple files..

    https://76.109.168.44

then go to webdisk.. then go to temp.. and upload away.. I'll reassemble the files for you and post it here. First try to upload it to my server in one big chunk.. see if it lets you. THEN try the 7zip if it doesn't work.

Yes sir.. Its SATA RAID-0 too. has built in usb print server, ftp server, dual gigabit ethernet, trunking, jumbo frames, dhcp server, and a few other things I can't remember because I don't use.. one of them being an i-tunes server. There are software modules you can install to add functionality like upnp server (xbox 360 media server), ssh server..

    heh.. heres a list.. http://onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N2100_Module_List

Only problem is the processor is kinda weak.. I can only achieve 20ish megabytes a second.. ~160megabits.. From my workstation to my living room comp I can do 1 gigabit a second.. No bullshit.. its nuts. I have 4x RAID 0 on my workstation and 2x on my living room comp. I think it might be Vista's (workstation) remote differential comparison.. key word=might..

Actually. it could be "Large send offload" in the advanced configuration of the network adapter.. but back on topic.. What percentage was that z06 table multiplied by?

I tried figuring it out on a 07z06 file but it appears they are different.

BTW.. 5 liter eater.. I will post a neat way for you to post your file

Take a look at this picture and you will actually be looking at the file... Warning, its a 1MB download. I think your file was too. And no.. I did not rename the file extension. I don't think imageshack would like that..

    Invisible secrets 4.6 I think..

oh.. and I almost forgot to post the file itself.

I am bumping this from the dead, but my car has a hard time starting up, and have no clue how to tune this table. I have guess and check method styled it and at certain temps have it dialed in, then winter hit and the car is not starting up in the cool mornings. I have searched and this is the only thread that I have found with any histograms or any real scientific approach to tuning the table.

THanks in advance. I have an 06 GTO BTW

Need to adjust Base Airflow ECT Multiplier. Have to experiment up or down.

Put the startup airflow back to stock and change the multiplier only?
