    E85/FFV Virtual Fuel Sensor?

I was reading that the 06-up FFV's use a Virtual Fuel Sensor to calc the % of E85 as compared to using a real physical sensor.

Is anyone familliar with it and can it be adapted to any LS PCM with appropriate engine mods (aka, injectors)?

This might be the key to my FFV 454 project. Add a 12200411 PCM with this "technology" added and the fat injectors I already have might make a great FFV truck.

    Thanks!

bump because this would be awesome if possible
the sensors are $350 - $400...way to much for experimenting mad scientists.

Get with DSteck he sells a kit. For this to work you need a real sensor, repin the ECM, set DTC's and stoich. Dave will send that info with the kit.

But what about: flex fuel/fuel sensor/virtual instead of sensor....

My understanding is the virtual sensor only updates the "ethanol %" when a certain amount of fuel is added to the tank. It doesn't try to do this automatically all the time

Have you tried adding several gallons of E85 on top of a gasoline tune and seeing what happens? Obviously your AFR table, multipliers, etc. all need to be setup like they are on factory vehicles that have the virtual sensor enabled.

I tried it on my truck and no dice. Will have to add a sensor. Something in the OS we don't have access to to enable the virtual sensor.

I use a 50/50 mix of E-85 and gas. My LTFT's are 19 everywhere. I was hoping the virtual sensor would notice these lean readings and just adjust the alcohol table accordingly. So far its not.

Virtual cannot just be activated and work. The only way to make it work is a sensor.

    Copy that.

Then why is there a choice of virtual or sensor?

Because that's what is there from the legacy code.
