    TBSS E67 idle issues

    Hey guys,

I have a TBSS I'm working on with a Truck Norris cam, most other things are stock except for a converter. I'm having an issue with idle. It will idle fine in P/N, but in gear it hunts and feels like it needs more airflow. I have found that I have to really jack up the idle airflow to get the truck to idle at all (~20g/s), but then it wants to push through when stopping as you'd imagine with that much idle airflow. But when I log, I see that it doesn't really even target what I have the idle set to in the table. When I'm coasting to a stop I see it target what I have it set to, but then drops down to about half that once I'm fully stopped. It's strange. I'm sure I'm missing a table somewhere but if you guys could point me in a better direction, I'd appreciate it. Some people say to mess with the throttle scalar, etc. I'm looking for some more pointed advice if possible.

Here's the log and tune file.

    drive1.hpl

In the log at around 2:30 it is hitting the g/s airflow in the table. Then seconds later at around 2:32 it decays to about half. That's when it starts hunting and running poorly.

    Thanks all!

My very first impression is: completely untouched VVE and 'MAF only', plus a tight LSA cam with lots of overlap? Sure you wanna keep going that direction?

Uff. Enable and tune your VE. Looks rich at idle. Also lower your min rpm reference for the adapts. That is not helping at all either.

I don't believe you have never successfully MAF tuned one of these.

You're right, I'm just making shit up. To prove that all you have to do is fill the VVE with random numbers, or all zeroes. It'll still run great. All these high-falutin' VVE tuning methods are just people trying to sell you something. Probably.

p.s. Good luck with no cats or downstream O2s, but the lightoff spark tables still populated and Cat Test/Post O2 Test still enabled. I'm sure disabling that stuff is just yet another scam THEY want you to believe.

Wow. This went weird. OP asked for help to fix his issue with his tune (which is from probably YouTube) and now, OP is arguing that his tune is correct. You can't make this up lmao.

You guys are really a sensitive lot. I never claimed my tune was correct as this is why I posted in the first place so please stop making stuff up. I asked for help on a shortcut to tweaking idle. If you don't know, it's OK.

There have been several good suggestions, which have all been ignored because they were not what you wanted to hear, I guess.

It's going to need VVE tuning.

No fuel trims, looks very rich. Your going to be fighting that trying to make it idle.

My favorite response from people posting looking for help ---> "Nah, that ain't it!!" LOLOL See it almost daily.\

Fuel trims aren't working. It's overly rich at idle. Narrowbands are roughly 900mv. Throttle blade is open too far so timing it bottomed out around 1-2 degrees. Then when the throttle blade closes up timing shoots up to "normal" range and that's when the idle hunt begins.

Need to dial in both airflow tables and fix whatever is causing the trims not to work. It will never idle correctly choking on fuel.

Update - adjusted the ETC scalar area and was able to bring the idle airflow down to a much more normal level. No VVE corrections, zero idle issues, amazing driveability. There's more than one way to skin a cat. Leave it to the forum to create drama where it's not needed.

for it to be proper you need to dial in vve at least where the ecm references it the most (at idle), not hard to do since the rest of the tune is perfect...lol

And this is why rookies come in here and get nothing but crickets. The forum didn't create the drama btw.
