2017 Silverado 4.3 swap for Gen 4 LS

    Hey folks,

I have 2017 Silverado 1500 with 4.3 V6, Z71, and towing packages. The truck has 100k miles now and I'm certainly not going to fix and keep the 4.3. I am researching options for a v8 without losing much if any functionality. I have a LOT of gen 3, 4 engines and parts. I just realized that the L96 6.0 was used on 2500's through 2017.

Is there any way I can swap a gen3/4 LS into this truck using whatever GM used to put L96 in the 14-18 trucks?

Nope. The 2017 truck you have is direct injection. The L96 and other engines from before 2014 are port fuel injection.

    The L96 uses a E78 controller and the 2017 uses a E92 in V8 applications, I think it's the same in the 4.3 too.

You'd need to swap in a L83 or L86 if you wanted to keep things more simple.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

Aye but if I have to replace the controller and the injector harness anyways to go V8, can if I move to an E78 controller and have support for a port injection Gen 4 engine? And keep the advanced body-control/integrations/features seen in 14-18 trucks?

Trust me, just do an L83 or L86 swap and segment swap the PCM. You'll be thankful you did.
