Not logging spark retard

I have a 03 Chevy Silverado with a 4.8L, and I?m new to tuning and trying to add timing but it won?t log retard at all. I have it in the channels list in the vcm scanner, and everything graphed, I have bumped the timing stupidly to see if I would get knock and I?m not getting anything I?ve also tapped the block and got nothing. It just says 0.0 at all rpms. Is there something I?m missing HELP PLSSS

It would help a bunch if you attach your tune file and a log file so people have something to look at, your chances of getting real answers rather than guesses and suggestions go way up when there is data instead of a story. There's even a 'sticky' thread directly below the button you had to click to create this post which tells you this.

If you have decent gas in it.. its possible its not knocking. Those are pretty forgiving on timing.

Else.. Knock sensors either get super sensitive or super quiet when they go bad. Its possible they are bad. They are 20 years old now.

Thanks buddy that?s what I was thinking just wishful thinking it would be something else. Didn?t know if I graphed something wrong or forgot a step for logging it cause I even bumped the timing way up and it did show -6.0 for burst knock but not retard

yeah burst knock doesn't have anything to do with the knock sensors.
