    Mustang (3V/Coyote) CA Emissions Differences

    Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a 3V or early Coyote. I don't have to worry about emissions where I live, but I am curious if there's anything with the CA cars that is either mechanically different, or if there's anything different about the ECM/tuning that would affect my ability to tune/mod the car over time. Not finding much that's authoritative through web searches, so I figured I'd ask here.

Several have indicated that there are stickers on the 49-state cars that say "not legal for sale in CA" but when pressed about what the differences are, everyone mostly just shrugs and there aren't any clear answers. The best I've found is one thread that had a supposed Ford employee reply saying that the factory tuning was "slightly" different and that the catalytic converters had a different part number than the 49-state cars, but everything else was the same.

    Anybody have any contradictory experience?
