Thread: Bought a Ford, can I read/work off of current tune?

Bought a Ford, can I read/work off of current tune?

I'll start by saying I do not have an hptuners device for Ford yet. I have an mpvi pro that I've used on my LS stuff.
I have a turbo'd '14 coyote f150. It has obviously been tuned before, but I don't know if that tune is "locked" or not, and if it is, can I have it unlocked, or can I even start from scratch to get in there?
I've tried to simply have it remote tuned but no one is willing to do it since it doesn't have rear O2 sensors. Nor will they leave their tune unlocked so I can turn them off myself.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

If its locked then youre SOL. If you dont have the stock tune then youre SOL. Could try to have the tuner or some other tuner unlock it for you but not sure how that would go. What is the deal now with tuners not touching rear o2's? I keep seeing this everywhere. What are they scared of now?

The EPA. Apparently it's a federal law, but idk how they'd know who turned them off

Me either. I'd only see them as a concern if you got annual inspections if you lived in one of the Nazi Germany states. I haven't had cats on any of my vehicles for almost 2 decades. It's just strange to me people are refusing to turn off a light... Lol

I can unlock any tune out there but I see no reason as I relay on my own files that are even better...

I love when plp say: "I don't know if that tune is "locked" or not" but in reality all they want is to have a sneak
peak into someone's else work...the amount of mails I get about unlocking lunt toone is just crazy LOL
I can but why Id ever do so? LOL

There honestly nothing there, they base on old ford performance OS's they chop it to few MP's with everything turned off...not my way sorry

This is very easy...pull a bin, hex the OS ID into something similar...read with HPT again. You might have it scrambled but you see what they did...

In my case, the tune, for the most part is solid. I just want to try to make the shifts smoother and correct the speedometer. It has a slight part-throttle hesitation, but other than that the engine tuning seems ok.

You should be able to read that vehicle with an original MPVI pro.

It wouldn't read it, so I bought an mpvi3, and it won't read it either. 😭 I guess it's locked.

Post a screen shot of what it says. You know how to take a screen shot?

Sure, but I don't know how to post it here without hosting it on the Internet somewhere first, then attaching the link.

When you go to make a post, click the "go advanced" button and it'll expand the post toolbar. You'll see a little paper clip button. That's the manage attachments button. It will allow you to upload pics, screen shots, tune files, data logs, etc. For pics and screen shots they have to be small. Jpeg is the best format. Just save everything as a jpeg and it should fit.
