Someone help me interpret my logs

When I'm in speed density/OL, my AFR error histogram is showing lots of red in the higher KPAs in the entire RPM range. STFTs show lots of red...everywhere. When I'm in closed loop/full tune, the same error histogram shows red primarily in the upper RPM range, higher KPAs. STFTs are all close to zero (a couple are green). Someone tell me why the histograms look so different between the open and closed loop logs? If speed density shows me I'm lean everywhere, how is being in closed loop showing me everything looks great only until upper RPMS, higher KPA? That one corner of red in the log? The car has been running better than before lately, as I've adjusted the MAF table enough to get the LTFTs to show light green/white when in closed loop. I've also adjusted the PE to kick in easier and sooner and with a more adequate EQ ratio. Wideband goes towards commanded when WOT like it should.

Open and closed loop logs were done the same night with 20+ min of driving.

The maf histogram (in closed loop) also still shows red in the upper frequency range and I'm wondering if I need to increase the values in the upper range some more.

Are you tuning primarily with a wideband or using fuel trims from the narrow bands? It looks as if you have DFCO still on (hence the lean condition at the low kPa areas.) I tune without DFCO active so i dont have anything adjusting fuel behind the scenes. You could also just use filtering instead of deactivating DFCO. If youre tuning with factory O2 then use LTFT+STFT math instead. Tuning with a WB i tune in OL and try to keep anything that changes fueling turned off or filtered out (PE, WOT, DFCO) Since your LTFT are just an average of the STFT then the histos will always be different. Give it some more fuel in the VE table in the upper kPa and rescan...Its a process, it doesnt just fall in line after one scan and one change.

I've been doing a rinse and repeat many times. It's come a long way in just a short time so far. You should've seen the fuel trims before I started tuning a month ago. I tune the VE in open loop with a wideband. That's the speed density log I attached and the screenshot of the histogram with all the red. The second log and screenshot with the green and white is when I'm in closed loop, utilizing the MAF, steady state, dynamic airflow, VE, PE, DFCO, and COT (disabled). The closed loop log is when everything is put back together and doing a drive. Although I can't figure out what the math is to filter out the things that manipulate fueling. That would help alot.

How about we start with what you're tuning? And then maybe post the tune file so people can see what you've done. Without knowing the vehicle, the setup, what the injectors are, what the fuel pressure is, yada yada, it's just a guessing game.

I'd recommend tuning anything part throttle using your fuel trims. VE and MAF both. Leave your wideband for WOT tuning only.

This is a really dynamic thing.. IT will not give the same log on two different days or two different occasions... Especially when looking at STFT.

Just keep plugging away at tuning. If your a +/-5 to 8 on STFT you doing about as good as you can ever do.

I'll just continue figuring it out myself. I feel like I'm not getting the correct message across and asking rational questions.

Are you wondering why there's a difference between SD and MAF/SD factory configuration? It's because of introducing the MAF and using dynamic airflow calcs based on MAF, VE, and TPS.

Both MAF and VE aren't tuned fully I can tell you that.
