Thread: Startup Idle Airflow settings

    Startup Idle Airflow settings

Almost all of my startup airflow settings are zeroed out which has been ok up to now but the time has come to increase airflow a bit when cranking and immediately after the engine lights off. A bit of flare initially would be acceptable.

So, starting with zeroes, would anybody care to make a few recommendations for numbers to try? I'm mostly looking at the startup airflow initial, delay, and decay charts. some numbers to stick in there would be great. Thanks,

    Jim

This is not an LS engine, with LS TB/intake parts, right? Some weird retrofitted Buick thing? And no tune file posted? You should know better by now.

A simple perusal of "hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" would make the answer obvious.

Riiiight... I do appreciate the humor. My bad, files attached.

I just tried some settings from the Silverado tune, 2.0 for the initial and 1.0 for decay. Went up as far as 15 for initial and I couldn't tell that it did anything.

I'm impressed that any of you guys remember me no more than I'm on here. Yes, it's a '65 Buick 300 V8 with LS triggers and sensors. Actually running very good at this point, just a few minor concerns left. Once this tune is complete I will be moving on to the 346 ci stroker with the eaton blower but I want to get this one right before messing with the more expensive engine. I still have to finish the blower intake for that one anyway.

Even more of a reason to give details everytime. Seems like this is one of those cases that even tune/log isn't enough info to address your concerns.
