The big blocks have a lot going against them when it comes to trying to make RPM. Intake port size, intake manifold design and valve train. None of that should matter though for towing applications.

Yes, and if you're towing with it don't go hogging ports and runners. All you have to do is smooth and blend transitions. If you need help tuning it feel free to start a new thread.
