"Read" button greyed out

The "read" button is greyed out on my VCM editor.

I plug in my laptop.
I turn the car to the "on" position but do not start it.
I Resync with no problem.

The "Read" button is greyed out - did I miss a step?

I write my updates and the car seems to take them OK; it cycles, and the pcm (or whatever) makes that noise that indicates to me that my changes were saved.

Do you have a file open in the editor? If so, close it.
