I think there is a firmware update in 5.0.4 for the MPVI2 but I don't think we've rolled out anything new since then. No need as its been pretty stable.

MPVI3 devices do not use drivers.

Yes, you can upgrade your MPVI2 to the MPVI3 device and keep your licenses in this case.
the intake honestly has very little affect on drivability.
I personally had no problems throwing the intake on without changing anything in the tune. Could it use some optimization? sure. But...

usb port on the MPVI sounds like it gave up the ghost after 10-11 years.
If you only want to tune the ecm you'll need to read just the ecm. Don't read the ecm and tcm.

Yup. ECM doesn't need to be sent off, tcm does.
Yes, most late model GM/Dodge ecm's need an unlock, perfectly normal.

If you followed my instructions you would've only read the ecm and would not have to license anything other than the ecm. To me it sounds like you didn't follow my instructions.

You read out the ZF8 TCM which costs 4 credit in order to license. If you do not wish to tune the TCM, please re-read your PCM only. You can do this by opening VCM...
