Sadly, here it is a few years later, and I never could get it to work. Of course, I haven't tried recently, either.
But, I haven't been able to use HPT because I don't have a WIndows laptop...
Not yet... I will have to buy a wideband before I can take full advantage of this. But it's very well written, easy to udnerstand. I shouldn't have any problems with it.
So far, the only way I've been able to get the MVPI to work is to run HPT in a virtual machine window... I can get the software to install in Linux, but it breaks the USB support. The VM software...
SWEET! I'll check it out as soon as I get a chance.
Actually, if I may suggest it:
Once you have your scanning config set up the way you want it, make sure to flash it to the MVPI so all your data gets logged when you use it as a standalone.
Go...
I'm going to be working on getting this running as well, I hope we can come up with a solution!
(EDIT) Looks like Wine doesn't support direct USB natively, and the Serial drivers aren't quite...
Semi-update on this, I bought a Dell 9" Inspiron Mini (for my wife) and it's running Ubuntu 8.10. I'm going to install HPTuners on it in Wine and test it, and if it works, I'll be buying one for the...
I wish someone would help with this... I'm curious about it, too.
Now you've got me thinking about getting 60's instead of 42's when I upgrade... I know I can get the 60's working. They would support all the power I would ever need on the M62.
Keep us posted how...
The methods of tuning haven't changed, really. The document is still good, it's very well written, and it really helped me out a LOT. I'll re-read it later on and give you some more solid input, but...
Saw the thread, it may be the head gasket... I guess you won't know until you pull it. Suckage.
If you get that thing sorted out, and running smooth with all that hardware, I will (with your permission) blatently steal your setup. It looks like it's going to be killer.
What kind of specs do you have on the injectors? I've never bought aftermarket ones, so I don't know what kind of info they send you with 'em. Do they have anything about minimum pulse @ a given...
Weird... ever caught it on a log?
The other three plugs are two switchable outputs, and a ground. Outputs are limited to 200ma I believe... good for small relays or LED's.
I'm not sure what you're getting at with this, the unit...
I cannot wait to see what this thing does... it's gonna be nasty!
The tune looks okay, the VE table has a few peaks in it that you could smooth out. Just curious, why is your min. pulse width set...
Yeah, definitely doesn't look good, it needs a good, solid, baseline tune. With intake/exhaust mods, the first thing you should do is calibrate the MAF table, because almost everything the engine...
AWESOME! Glad I could help.
I'm sure you can run the VM software with that, though I can't say how performance would be. Maybe if you used a Win98 install instead of WinXP in the virtual machine it would help, it's worth a...
Okay, I posted my how-to for using it in a VM, here's how to set it up using wine:
First, install wine ("sudo apt-get install wine" should do it if you're using Ubuntu)
Next, I used a script...
From what I've seen on my computer, I doubt it. You mignt get it to run smoothly if you have 1GB of memory or more, and use a VM, but I couldn't say for sure. It's possible to do it, but I really...
I did manage to get the latest HP Tuners installed, and working under wine... I installed .net 2.0 (and ONLY .net 2.0), then installed msiexec and the latest VCMSuite.msi. It does work, though it's...
Okay, here's the official report: it's very choppy on my computer. In Linux, the default graphics drivers are very sucky, so I'm going to dig out an old nvidia graphics card, install the good...
Yes, it's a .net problem. I did a lot of research on Mono (open-source .net implementation) but I couldn't get that working either. Supposedly .net 2.0 works with no hacks under wine, but HPT seems...
Correct, that was the only thing holding it back. Rommer said he got it working with wine, but I tried and tried and got nowhere. I have not tried with 64-bit versions of anything, I had enough...
