Re: Who all has Ford tuning experience?

This is an old thread, LOL. But I love the HPTuner stuff now and have continued to use the SCT stuff on all the Fords I tune. And now my wife has a Hemi Charger that will need to be tuned a...

Re: Question about theoretical Max timing table

I tried 26, 28, and 30 WOT timing at the drag strip yesterday. Best time and mph were at 28. Stock A4 '02 Vette.

Re: Question about theoretical Max timing table

I guess the Vette's are different. Her's has four 24 degree cells around 4400 rpm. I ran it today at the drag strip after backing off the knock sensor thresholds and finally got it back to around 28...

Re: Question about theoretical Max timing table

Soundengineer--what engine is that max graph for? It doesn't have the dip in the timing around 4400 rpm that my wife's '02 has.

Re: Question about theoretical Max timing table

On many cars, the table axes are not the same, so you can't just copy one table to the other. The table values between the high octane and max are not the same, so just compare them before changing...

Re: Question about theoretical Max timing table

Pasting the max theoretical table into the high octane table is pretty much a standard procedure on the Fords, so I don't know why it wouldn't be worth trying on the GM cars. I am still pulling...

I just love "Compare Files" feature in 2

Boy, that is one sweet capability!! Anyone that hasn't tried it, try it. One really cool deal is to create a new tune file, then load the previous one as the compare file, then hit the "show...

    Re: installing 2.0.17

Download it to your home computer then transfer to the notebook. Works fine. You can edit your 1.7 files just fine, I've done it for two days. The only thing you will have to do is to generate your...

  11. Re: Why not change displacement for larger engine?

Sidestep--The car I was going to try it on is down and not available for tuning. I will get back to you in a few weeks. I have a 402 and a 427 to try it on, probably over Thanksgiving, LOL.

  12. Re: Why not change displacement for larger engine?

Thanks, gentlemen, you have confirmed what I believed to be true, that the cylinder displacement should be changed if the engine size is changed, then the tuning can be done.

    I just don't...
  13. Why not change displacement for larger engine?

I have studied 2 tune files done by others in which the VE tables were changed but not the displacement for 402 cubic inch and 427 cubic inch in LS1 cars. Why would the tuners choose to change VE...

    2004 Vette ZO6 vs M6 Tune differences

The stoich air fuel ratio is 14.68 on the Z and 14.63 in the standard M6.
Is the fuel is the same, why would the stoich ratio be different for the two engines?

Even more interesting is the VE...

What Ryan is talking about is the Superchips Custom Tuning hardware and software. I have been using it for nearly two years on several Ford cars but it can be used on the diesels as well, as far as...

Re: Question about HP Tuners for a 99 LS1

I'll give you an example. I specified 02 corvette and 01 corvette with my original order. Last week I added 99 Camaro and 04 Vette. Worked like a charm. Overnight upgrade to my software license....
  18. Re: Just finished tuning '02 Vette, AFR = Commande

Rattle--thanks for the note. The remaining problem I have is that the afr goes from stoic to 13.7 from 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm then goes to 13.3, as commanded from the PE table from 3000 rpm on up....

Question about dynamic air g/cyl calc

Is the gram/cyl air flow used the advance table calculated by the VCM? From the VE calculation or from the MAF flow rate?

  20. Just finished tuning '02 Vette, AFR = Commanded

I'm new to HPTuner, but have a lot of experience with Ford computers. I did the tune on my wife's '02 Vette exactly the way I do it on the Fords with a stock engine. I adjusted the low end of the MAF...

Re: Who all has Ford tuning experience?

Well, I finally got to spend a couple of evenings with the HPTuner package on the wife's '02 Vette. But I did the tune exactly the same way I would have done the Fords. I turned the LTFTs off, set...

Re: Who all has Ford tuning experience?

Yes, the software is keyed to a specific computer, you have to get a key manually from SCT, even after some updates, and then the flasher you program with the software is VIN locked to one car. You...

Re: Who all has Ford tuning experience?
