DBW i assume? If so the trans gear ratios are likely different between an NV3500 (would have been behind the 4.8) and the T5. I had the same problem and eventually switched to a cable throttle body...
Try disabling vats. Its set to serial.
Just needed to rewire for tps, iac, and o2's if I remember right. I also needed the red pcm plug instead of the green. It wasn't hard at all though.
