I will bump also, as I have the same question, i.e. why is it necessary to do a "custom" set up?
In my case it is an NGK, but it is also among those already covered in HP Tuners.
Is it only necessary to customize if the AFR readings are different in HP Tuners from what they are on the "gauge" display?
I would also like to know if the preset dynojet wb02 is ready to use directly or does it need to be configured?

This was VERY helpful. Thank you so much.
I have hooked my glowshift wideband up and when I pull it up on the vscanner all it shows is 10-11 volts. How can I fix this?
Probably should start with the very first thread at the top of this section....

Then post a log, and layout and channel config
Very Helpful. Thanks
If HPT has my wideband configuration already present, is there need to set up a "user defined parameter" like stated?
Im assuming as the original post is from 2010 you had to make your own parameters for wideband?
Im only asking bc if HPT already has my wideband configuration i would not need to set the voltage outputs on the actual wideband contoller AND in HPT like the original post, or would i still have to do so?
Thanks
The main reason to generate a User Defined in 3.X would be if your setup was exhibiting excessive offset values. We use the User Defined to "tweak" the second number to adjust for analog noise/offset errors typical of most analog systems. With the Serial and OBD III interfaces this is not necessary.
We recommend taking the car up to say 20-30 mph and while operating in closed loop (narrowband O2's maintiaing your stoich lambda/AFR) log the wb output and compare to stoich. The difference will be your offset. Adjust the second set of numbers up or down to bring the wb signal in-line with your stoich value.
