5th gen ZL-1 issues after cam swap

Okay this is my first time posting on here but I'm struggling to figure this out. I currently working with my tuner to tune my car and I'm fighting a lean condition at idle. I've checked all of the vacuum lines from the intake tube all the way to the crankcase cannot find any leaks. Also did a smoke test with no luck. I've checked my exhaust for major leaks with no exhaust leaks.

All of this is after we swapped in the BTR stage 2 cam kit and the tuner I am using tuned the car before and we did not have this issue. Below is the list of mods on the car also including the latest datalog and latest tune file. If you notice in the log the IAT's are high because I had air in the lines so the pump went into fail safe mode. That's good to go now.

Your tuner has you set up in MAF only but they cranked your VVE table up in your idle areas? Doesn't work like that. Also your long term fuel trims are adding 30% at idle and they don't see any issues with that? You might want to find a different tuner that knows what they're doing

Has the tuner just tried adding fuel to the maf at idle? I also notice your Injection timing boundary is stock and typically that needs to be altered when changing the cam (plenty of threads on this).

This should be easy to fix. The car is setup MAF only. Just adding to the MAF table in that area will make it richen up.


I'd recommend tuning in the VVE. it will make a big difference down the road.

Your IAT 2 is crazy high. Looks like the aftercooler is low, pump is bad, etc. It should stay 120-130 in normal driving.

Time to find a new tooner. This is all very basic stuff.

Yeah, he mentioned in his post that he had air in the system and is now fixed

Thanks guys for the input.. so what it sounds like is all of this is in the tune? I don't want to list the tuners name as they are a reputable tuner and I didn't come here to trash him or throw that company under the bus. But it's really frustrating that I've spent the last few weeks trying to drill down this leak that is basically none existent.

Almost want to ask for my money back but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen.

Honestly I'm thinking he is just trying to give me a basic tune when I need more than that. The tuner seems dead set on it's a mechanical problem and that I need to address this before he moves any further.

I know the 5th gen camaro has the IAT and MAF sensor in one so you have to split those up to be able to disable MAF.. not sure exactly what's involved in that but I'm not opposed to going that route.

Yes the IAT's are now under control they are 115 the last time I took the car out. Would love to go with an interchiller setup but not in the cards as of right now.

I don't think he's putting in any effort in giving me a custom tune.. I think he's trying to just make small changes to the prior tune. He's persistent that it's a vacuum leak.

This is honestly not that hard of a setup to get right.

It takes little effort to dial this in. If he's not putting in any effort it most likely means he's incapable.

It really is as simple as plot the trims in a histogram and then copy/paste/multiply by in the tune file.
