Does the ETC scalar get scaled in a scaled tune?
No.
This is what i thought but someone i know mentioned that he was told that by Greg Banish that on a scaled tune we have to scale the scalar.
If you are working in units of scaled airflow, it's often helpful to scale the throttle beacuse the current GM ETC system is airflow based. (It turns rotation/area into flow numbers) It may not be necessary on every install, but it can be helpful if you're experiencing difficulty with the idle control loop.
Greg, scaling the idle airflow stuff screws up idle control bad. None of that stuff references actual airflow from the MAF or VE. It's all theoretical like base airflow in an LS1 is. Everybody who tried scaling any of that stuff had huge problems (myself included). I've scaled a bunch of cars and don't ever change anything under the idle tab in terms of scaling.
Let me re-phrase that then...
IF you scaled the target idle airflow, then it would also probably help to scale the throttle area. If I'm doing the scaling exercise, I usually hit everything to avoid confusion. You just have to remember that when datalogging you're only seeing the scaled representation of actual flow.
I don't think we can data log any of the idle control airflow in E40, E38, or E67 PCMs though. ;)

Ok, reporting back,
I scaled ETC scaler and all the fields on the idle tab.
car has crazy cruise control now. i even zero'd the base airflow tab after 1200 rpms and it still wont decelerate. what did i miss, or shouldn't have done.
tune and mini log attached with config.

Mine needed a bit of work and scaling the ETC did it for me.
i gave up and when back to tune 50%, idle tab stock. runs good, rpms come down quick, almost a lil too quick, but its better than 10 seconds when i scaled the idle tab and scalar.
