I put a cam and DoD delete in a 2008 g8. After sorting through the tune it seems to drive fine at part throttle. It's a polluter cam which is pretty large lift. And still stock converter. My problem is when you go full throttle the first gear shift is all sorts of wrong. It seems to shift to second then back to first, then back to second. I've checked the fluid level and it's good. Any thoughts?
Post the tune and any logs you have of the issue for more help.
here is the tune.
Fluid is low .5 or so if it only slips in 1st. If it slips in 2nd you are 1 quart low.
Also the trans tune still needs work.
any tips to where? if not i understand. also is the booklet for tuning gm transmission from the tuning school helpful?
Would like to know also if the tuning school info on trans tuning is any good, been considering the purchase myself.
I'm not a huge fan. I've seen them. I've been doing the A6 tran stuff for close to 6+ years and they live to 600-700-800+ if tuned and cooled correctly.

Happened to me for the first time about 5 years ago and racked my head ALL NIGHT! owner then told me he recently had a trans flush, well low and behold it was around 1 quart low. I religiously overfill the A6 trans by .5 to 1 quart on higher HP stuff.
The Lack of the dipstick makes this diagnosis harder for people. Also it does not help the Trans fluid has to be checked at 86-122F.
Hi Shane, what would you recommend someone who has yet to tune a GM auto trans, any good reading material to start on, other than the descriptions given in the HPtuners help centre? Can you sell me a nicely bound book with your 100 changes for $99 like The Tuning School does.? :pray:Quote:

I overfill the 4L60E/80E as well with higher HP applications.
I did purchase the tuning school manual to improve shifting ,, I didn't have any underlying trans issues(a rouge 2-3 flare when cold once in a while ),, you must read it several times and under stand what each change they suggest and what it affects in the trans,, once you have a good understanding make the changes to the trans ,, I followed it and it improved shifting a huge amount ,, the only other change was the addition of 1.5% in the air mass table in the engine tune to get the rouge flares and consistent firm shifts ,, trans has good manners in normal and firmer shifts in sport and manual ,, I have a 2009 g8 ,, huge difference ,, but I always am messing with my stuff never happy with stock ,,gmonde
