I see a fairly low (12.5 degree) advance during cranking
followed by a jump-up to the main table values once I let
go. Starting to think maybe I have overadvanced the low
RPM and it's fighting itself, or something; the fuel and air
seem to be not changing (now that they're tweaked and
pegged open, respectively) and the RPM dive seems to
have only spark to blame.
I can't find a cranking advance table. Is it just hiding, or
is it not available?
Might be pulling it off the Base or LO table. Check to see what airflow you are running during cranking and see if it corresponds to either table. Otherwise, I would say it's hiding. :D
LS1 cranking spark is not in the editor, added to my To-do list :)

So do we have cranking spark tables yet ?
Putting this back up at the top, do any of the betas have this feature yet? My stuff is commanding 11.5 degrees of advance at startup. and takes a couple of attempts to get started. Motor is a low compression blower setup with cold plugs. If I lock it @ 18 degrees, it lights right off.
I do not see it.. but a fix is.. more timing = less airflow.. less timing = more airflow.. so if your not able to get enough timing to start the engine then add a little airflow and it should fire up better..
It's not always that simple. Especially in the LS2 cars. They pull the timing negative when warm. -5 degrees. Setting the cranking spark table to something in the positive teens really helps the cammed cars.Quote:

In all honestly Chris likely forgot about doing these adds as we recently did a round of LS1 adds for several new tables that were requested. Highly doubtful he wanted to make more work for himself by not adding these at that time :doh:

It's not an idle issue, it's a startup issue. And while I don't want to get into a pissing contest, I can tell you that you can only put so much startup airflow in these cars. All the ETC cars, even the LS1s, if you get too much base airflow, or startup airflow, or a combination of both, they'll actually close the blade.Quote:

As for owning other software, you can't narrow your scope to just one software. There's too much stuff that's not available in one or the other, as Bill has mentioned. There's things that Tunercat can do that neither HPT of EFILive can do. You tune enough cars, you'll run into issues that can't be fixed by one, by can by another.
That wasn't a knock on the company or software. You know I use it way more than the other. You guys have been great about adding features and tables. I've asked for a few things, and alomst everything I've asked for you guys have added. The cranking spark would be a huge help. Esp in the E40s.Quote:

Wowie, kazowie! I got the latest Beta to play with, to have something to do in this weather. I bumped the whole table by 1.5x, and now the truck starts like stock. I don't have much overlap in my cam, I wonder if the added timing is making up for poor idle tuning. Whatever, thanks for the new table.
Ed or anyone else how are you modding this cranking spark table? I thought about adding 10-15 % to see if it helps my starts any. I have increased cranking fuel, but this may be the ticket here.
How can you not have a cranking timing table??????????? Glad you guys dont build engines... might find one with missing pistons.
