Correct, HP Tuners logs RPM itself.
Okay, I have search extensively and topics covering in car WB's is still scarce. I know the HPtuner will incorporate any WB that has the 0-5V out (whatever that means). If I use LS-1M or Zeitronix WB, will these work with the cable HPtuners provides with the upgrade/tradein. Will there be some sort of re-wiring required. I am good at soldering but horrible with schematics. I am just tryinig to picture/understand how the two will be integrated. Will either one of these products work with the upcoming release. Thanks for any input. I know the LS1-M comes with AUX cable for monitoring more stuff. Do I need these or can I just get the basic setup?
LM-1 I believe lets you program the output but makes
either 0-1V or 0-4V by default. I have one but I didn't
read the manual beyond "Getting Started". ;)
HPTuners says the input range will be 0-5V which will
accommodate either; might be some loss of resolution
using a 0-1V signal but probably not worth worrying
about. 0-1V matches the narrowband sensor range so
it's almost certain any wideband you get will put that
out, and very unlikely you'll find one going over 5V.
You would want the analog output cable (which is just
a stereo 1/8" headphone plug end). I got one with mine
but don't recall if it's part of the base bundle or came
with the aux input cable stuff.
At any rate, you will not have a problem with either WB
output level. You will have to attach the output wiring
to the HPTuners cable (I would recommend that you
make it connectorized, to save wear & tear, have no
clue what form the connection will be "naturally"
though).
The LM-1 can be programmed for many voltage ranges. 0-5V is no problem. I currently have mine set from 0-1V to feed the output to my rear O2 so I can log. Once the WBO2 interface is out, I will change the output to 0-5V and use the new cable. Should be very easy.
Even though I am logging my WBO2 now, I want to be able to log Fuel Pressure also so I will need the new cable (I included this info because someone would ask why go to the new cable if I can already log the WBO2).
I have an LM-1 wideband, it is an awesome tool. I made my own rpm converter using a national semiconductor LM2917 frequency to voltage converter (cost under 10 bucks for total circuit).
if your getting the LM-1 i would suggest going with the longer cable to the sensor. (useful if you want to put spigot on end of tailpipe for say a long box crew cab truck)
we have contacted a number of manufacturers for their calibration curves. Those that responded will be natively supported by our s/w as an easy choice menu, others will have to be calibrated manually (which is also quite simple).
