Thunder racing tuned the car which tr is now closed, so do I need a stock tune flashed on my car before I write another tune or what. I think they use efilive so am I not allowed to scan or modify the tune or just modify it. Where on earth do I find a stock tune that I trust is stock lol.

This should apply to other S197 Mustangs as well, but Note: I still cannot get the MPVI Pro interface to do standalone logging on the 07 Mustang. I wish it'd work, because it is a lot easier to just record the data and then go home to analyze it on the laptop - versus lugging the laptop along. With Slower Duration set on the interface, I can get over an hour of data on the Interface with the Chevy.

I have the Steeda Cold Air Intake, and have been using the Shelby GT MAF Transfer Function for just over 2 years without any problems. However, I decided to actually datalog the LTFT and STFT (Long and Short term fuel trims) earlier this year and wasn't too thrilled to see them being way lean, as expected with an aftermarket intake. I was hoping the OEM MAF calibration would get me close enough. I have been using SCT's Pro Racer Package (SCT Advantage software) for almost 10 years but one of the biggest challenges I faced as a DIY tuner is that tuning the MAF was always a pain since I had to sift through lines of LTFT/STFT data.

Enter HP Tuner's VCM Suite... I bought this originally to tune up my 09 Cobalt SS Turbo because I installed the K&N Short Ram Intake and caused the LTFT's to spike 10-12% lean. Since the Cobalt comes with a wideband O2 sensor and direct fuel injection, it was different to tune than a Ford but was actually easier thanks to the VCM Scanner and VCM Editor programs. VCM Editor works kind of like SCT Advantage, except VCM Editor works much much much faster even on an Atom netbook. VCM Scanner's histogram feature is probably the most awesome feature I have seen. I'm sure there is a way to program Microsoft Excel, or create some kind of MATLAB/miniTab program to do this as well, but VCM Scanner's histogram collects data points for your MAF (or any other PIDs you wish to log). Within 2-3 tries, I got the Cobalt's LTFT down to +/- 2%.

I applied that approach to the Mustang, and got similar results. I used SCT's Pro Racer Package to flash the tune, and VCM Scanner to collect the data. If LiveLink can do the same thing as VCM Scanner, I haven't figured it out and LiveLink crawls on my laptops.

I only used 2 histograms: LTFT1+STFT1 vs MAF Voltage, and LTFT2+STFT2 vs MAF Voltage. The PIDs are self-explanatory. Just driving the car around, it would collect data at each MAF voltage point and average the fuel trim data. I found that the MAF voltage never went above 3.6V even when I pushed the car hard.

I'd create an Excel worksheet that averages the data for each bank, to create a master table that is to be multiplied as a percentage in the MAF transfer function with SCT Advantage (which coincidentally works the same as VCM Editor). After 3 attempts, my fuel trims look very good. Additional fine tuning is to be done by multiplying the MAF transfer function by half percentage (1/2%) of the data obtained to prevent excessive adjustments.

Using VCM Scanner:

Using Excel worksheet:

Using SCT Advantage:

Results:

HP Tuners also supports the S197 Mustang, and I used VCM Editor to look around their rendition of the PCM calibration. It is organized differently from SCT but the meat and potatoes are the same.

I have my VE dialed in during the winter and spring but as warmer weather sets in logging reflects my AFR at WOT steadily getting richer. ranging from 11.3 AFR down to 10.30's
I have experimented with the VE Charge Temp Multiplier back in the winter cooler weather and thought the table was also dialed in at least for the time being.

One of the first things I did before I started tuning with the Custom OS was to zero out my Cylinder Charge Temperature Table.

This was because I was going to use the new tuning parameter offered with the new OS VE "Charge Temp Multiplier"
As I keep lowering the values from 1 to .94 in the respective Kelvin Temp areas in an attempt to lean out the VE table I am not logging any change in my AFR.

I do not desire to change my VE table very much because it was near perfect in the cooler weather. If I start leaning out the VE just because its warmer I fear that I will get extremely lean at the first sign of cooler weather. I know this has always been some concern with an OLSD tune.
I am actually running CLSD at this time with the STFT's only for more consistent idle and temp swings.

Can anyone help me with this or explain why the table is not responding the way I expected. I do not want to suddenly for what ever reason to see my AFR go 6% lean at 6.5k and 15lbs boost. I will attach my tune if someone could take a look.

The problem only happens when I spray both stages of nitrous. I can spray either of the stages of nitrous and the car pulls without a problem. Do both of them and the throttle shuts. Not sure if it is being forced closed or if the computer is shutting it.

I tried using the MPVI Pro interface with my 07 Mustang GT but it keeps blinking the Red ERR LED.

I made sure the VIN and OS is dispaying my Mustang's data, but still no luck.

The only time I ever saw this ERR LED with my 09 Cobalt SS Turbo is when I forgot to Connect to the car first, then write the config file. The standalone worked beautifully with the Cobalt, but no dice on the Mustang.

Any ideas?

I was able to lug my netbook and use VCM Scanner to do the datalogging via the Interface though, but the standalone would make life so much easier.

BTW I am using SCT Advantage to flash the Mustang GT with the new calibrations, I am only using VCM Scanner for datalogging.

Fast Torque Exit. With the option 'Use Fuel Cut'.

I have a RAMJet OTR...... It took me a 'very long time' to workout where some 'massive lean spikes' were coming from even after having issues tuning the maf and ve via wideband.

Originally I compensated for the problem by raising my idle 50rpm to 600rpm in the hotter ETC area's.... And it fixed it. But after getting a new exhaust, I wanted to drop that back to stock rpm to move the crusing note of the exhaust down a bit to make it quieter and i just felt raising the idle rpm was just a bit of a dodgy way around fixing this problem and may ultimately effect many things like airflow calculations as a whole, transmission shifting gears etc

So I set out to workout what really was the issue.......... after much trial and error...... It was this stupid tranmission fast torque exit fuel cut that caused it all along, so when I get some time spare I'm going to redo my wideband tuning on both the ve and maf to touchup the lower ranges where even when I was tuning with the wideband 'i had this on'. For the time being I'm running maf only.

So essentially all those guides on this forum need updating to ensure you turn that off as well...... when wideband tuning (or atleast street tuning)

-------

Now to my question. I want to have this option actually on but....... I'm guessing when the fuel is cut my car isn't getting enough fuel meaning the injectors minimum isn't right for my OTR?

Can one of the more experienced turners here give me a point in the right direction. Obviously I need to raise my injector minimum or something for when the fuel is cut off........ generally speaking?

Has anyone else experienced issues with this one thing? The reason I want it on as it's better for the gearbox to have it on.....

HELP.

PS. To give you guys an idea I upgraded my tune to the custom OS to adjust VE the normal way to fix this, to prove my point I reflashed entire stock tune back up with just my 'wideband maf table', dynamic airflow off, and just this one thing turned off and my trims were virtually spot on!

Tuned down to 10.5 commanded afr and engaging NOS with a rpm window switch will start at 3500

Will adjust as necessary depending on how the car takes it.

This is an automatic car

My question is should I disable the N2O just before the gear change or since it is an auto keep the spray engaged?

Sorry to ask such a newb but am no gas guru

Hi guys, im looking for some help on this one, its driving me crazy.

He is the set-up,
1999 gmc sierra 5.3L
- mild cam and port stock heads
- d1sc procharger
- 60lbs injectors
- 4" maf housing with ls7 maf ( blow through )

new stuff causing the issues:
- lsx rt manifolds
- fast 102mm throttle body.

issues:

- truck fires up and wants to rev to 2500rpm on first start up
- iac is @ 0 with throttle body closed
- tps voltage is at .53
- tps 0 % at idle
- quick blips of the throttle and the truck has a very hard time finding a good idle again.
- has a " cruise control " condition when driving, will drive itself at 1500rpm

put the truck on the dyno and hold great boost pressure, so I do not believe its a vacuum leak.

any help would be great on this

thanks in advance

Nick
